What Disturbances are Included?
Many disturbances can now be simulated with LANDIS-II, including: fire, wind, harvesting and fuel management, biological disturbance agents (e.g., insects, deer browsing). Many of these disturbances are represented by more than one extension. For example, there is a Base Fire extension that provides a simple fire regime driven representation and a much more sophisticated Dynamic Fire and Fuels System that incorporates weather data, topography, and dynamic fuel types. Likewise, development is under way on a new harvest extension that will allow partial cohort removal if biomass succession is enabled.
